J. Simmons

J. Simmons, President current term ends January 2017

J. Simmons is the founder of Mach 30. As a Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute Fellow, J. spends his days studying Space Systems Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), and his nights leading a revolution in space systems development. J.’s vision for Mach 30 combines his years working and volunteering for non-profits and his experiences using open source software tools in small business.

Before attending AFIT, J. worked as the Technical Coordinator for Oxford University Press’s US website where he learned the importance of open standards in promoting rapid growth in industry. After moving to Blacksburg, VA, to study Aerospace Engineering at Virginia Tech, J. spent three years as a member of the facilitation team at Shadowlake Village. During that time, J. developed his skills in helping diverse groups come to consensus and found that creative solutions become possible when all options are considered. In addition to his work at AFIT, J. serves as a Senior Application Engineer at Phoenix Integration, working with Phoenix Integration customers to develop automation and integration solutions for their engineering design and analysis.

J. holds a MS in Space Systems Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a BFA in Theatre Lighting Design and Technology from Florida State University, where he also studied as a Computer Science major, and will complete his PhD in Space Systems Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology in Summer, 2014.

Greg Moran

Greg Moran, Vice President current term ends January 2016

Greg Moran grew up in Plano, TX and earned his BS degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University.
